Birdie is our happy go-lucky, always smiling girl who actually came to us as an adult! She was given up by her previous family and returned to her breeder ( our friends who asked if we could take her) claiming they "wanted to get a new puppy and didn't have the room".... how sad, their loss, our blessing! Birdie is fabulous! She settled right in our home and hearts with ease and after a few months of having her around, we got her health clearances completed and decided that she would be staying with us permanently. She is overall a wonderfully well-rounded, confident, sweet, and social girl with low energy and medium drive levels. She does love a good game of fetch and will happily romp with the crew in our yard or run after the kids, but at heart, she's a couch potato. If she's not sleeping, she's playing with puppies, or soaking in the kiddie pools, the girl might be half fish actually. She loves our kiddos and loves playing with our dogs, especially our young puppies and has taken on the roll of "aunty" to our youngest additions and the litters we've raised while she's been with us. She is absolutely bomb proof, despite having very minimal socialization at her previous home and living her entire life outside ( she was a farm dog with her previous family), hence her rougher looking coat that will get better with time, now that she's an inside dog and not exposed to the elements. She blew us away with her confident and outgoing nature. She is confident, forgiving, biddable, and will happily solve problems when put to the task. She loves a good game of find it. She doesn't have a mean bone in her body and is extremely tolerant of our crazy puppies and toddlers and LOVES cuddles. She easily earned her home manners, canine good citizen and at trick title. Although there are no famous names in Birdies pedigree she does boast quite a few impressive littermates, three are service dogs, a cardiac alert, seizure alert and one seeing eye dog! We know of several other siblings and half siblings and have been able to watch them grow up and develop into wonderful family pets, just like Birdie! Her only con, she is horrible at posing for pictures, try as we might, a decent photo of Birdie is near impossible.
